Long battle with the frisky vampire

After feeding
Before feeding

Bed bugs are a true menace in life and malice is what they are packed with. They feed on human blood and love to do so when humans are deep asleep at night. This habit of theirs make them a tough bug to take notice of in the initial stages. They might be tiny but the most annoying of all pests  for they can be anywhere in your home .

After several millennia of trying without success to stomp , burn  and fumigate them out of our lives , a new strategy is now in place . The new approach  will involve luring them from their lair by exploiting their most basic impulse : blood lust!

Ivermectin   is a medication approved decades ago for the treatment of worms and parasites . A controlled amount of this medication in human's bloodstream though too weak to affect human, would be more than strong enough to kill the bugs that have the blood meal . Very simple , right ? This makes it look like the best weapon in the fight against the bedbugs might be a pill  afterall.

However , we can't afford to be over excited with  this new approach  for in no time , Invermectin will enter the fast lane of antimicrobials and it will be overused . Like the abuse of antibiotics has  led to antibiotic resistance , the bedbugs will soon develop resistance too  . Humanity's long battle against bedbugs will continue !
